Chevrolet

Chevrolet keeps getting better. Since 1911, the automaker has continually revitalized its line — which now includes economical choices ( the Cruze, Spark and Sonic), upscale driving options (the Impala), heavy duty trucks (the F-series), and sleek sports cars (Corvette) — all while offering hybrid offerings (Volt and Bolt). With so many options, Chevy has a vehicle for just about everyone.

Looking for something new? The popular Silverado was redesigned for 2019 and the Blazer SUV has returned. For those who want all the bells and whistles when it comes to electronics, Chevrolet boasts one of the easiest to use infotainment systems in the business.

HistoryChevrolet was co-founded by Louis Chevrolet (an automotive engineer and race car driver from Switzerland) and William C. Durant. Other founding members of the original company included William Little, James H. Whiting (Buick’s former owner) and Durant’s son-in-law, Dr. Edwin R. Campbell. R.S. McLaughlin joined the company in 1912.

The first Chevrolet to roll out was the Series C Classic Six. The vehicle was ready several months before the company incorporated and debuted at the New York International Auto Show in 1913. That iconic bowtie emblem was born a year later and was first emblazoned on the H series and L series.

Historians believe that the inspiration for the bowtie emblem came from the Coalettes coal company, a stylized version of the Swiss cross, or something Durant saw in French hotel wallpaper.
